Frequently Asked Questions

What is a grow-with-me program?

Children at Riversong Nursery School are invited to stay with us until they are ready for school, and our age bracket will adjust as they grow. This is an invitation–there is no commitment required.

What are the steps to enroll?

Contact Dominique at riversongnursery@gmail.com and share about yourself, your child, and your interest in Riversong Nursery School. I’ll get back to you to schedule a tour and an in-home visit to make sure we are the right fit for each other. If we are a fit, I’ll send you an invitation to join our school.

What is your tuition?

$780/month
plus a yearly $50 supplies fee and deposit of a month’s advance payment.

*includes organic, local and farm fresh snacks and lunch each day

If your child does not attend for some days due to illness, family vacation, or emergency, the cost remains the same—you are paying for the space in our care which is limited (the same would be true for any school).

Do you accept subsidized care?

We do! If you are SNCS eligible, your tuition fee is subsidized and greatly reduced. All spots are SNCS eligible. Contact http://sncs.org to find out more or apply for subsidized care.

How does my deposit work?

Your deposit is one month’s tuition. This amount is due at the time of enrollment and will go toward your child’s last month’s tuition. In case of termination of enrollment, this deposit is non-refundable and will cover your child’s final weeks of school.

What will my child need on their first day?

  • A family picture (this helps with separation)
  • Sunscreen
  • Any medicines that your child may need
  • Two complete changes of clothes (in case we get wet or muddy!)
  • Diapers and wipes (if not potty trained)

What meals do you provide?

We provide snacks and lunch—meals are with local, organic, whole foods.

What about naps?

Because our program is part-time, there is no set nap schedule. Children are invited to nap at home after care—but of course, if they are tired during school and need to nap, a safe and quiet space will be provided!

What is your sick policy?

Your child must be well and healthy to attend Riversong Nursery School. Being a part of a preschool environment involves a higher risk of illnesses spreading, which is why it is important for us to be preventative.

For the safety, health and well being of all students and staff, children are not allowed to attend if they have:

  • a fever (> 100F)
  • cough (other than a lingering cough at the end of a cold when all other symptoms have gone)
  • diarrhea
  • An undiagnosed skin rash
  • Been vomiting (>2 times in the past 24 hrs)
  • A runny nose with opaque/colored mucus

A runny nose with clear mucus is allowed. I understand that coughs linger, noses run with allergies, and lethargy does not always indicate illness.

If you allow your child to join us when they are displaying signs of illness, this puts everyone at risk of developing the same illness. Please remember that the first day of an illness is often when your child is the most contagious.  If your child is displaying signs of illness or doesn’t seem “right” in the morning, please keep them home that day. If their nose is running like a faucet, keep them home.  If they are coughing a lot and are unable to cover their cough, please keep them home.  If they have a fever, keep them home.

In the event that your child becomes ill during school hours, I will contact you to pick them up or send an emergency contact to pick them up within an hour. They will be separated from the other children and given a comfortable place to rest until you come to pick them up. We will make sure that your little one is tended to and made to feel safe and cared for while they wait for you.

We follow the California State laws for group care illness policies:

* A child with a fever must stay home for 24 hours after the fever has broken…without the aid of Tylenol or other fever-reducers.

* Undiagnosed rashes or hives, pink eye, vomiting, and diarrhea must be inspected by a doctor and treated before returning to the group.

More Serious Contagions

Please notify me immediately about cases of H1N1, Norovirus, Rubella, Hand/Foot/Mouth Disease, Pertussis, Mumps, Varicella, Pin worms, Ring worm, Head lice, Strep, COVID, or any highly contagious virus or other communicable disease.

It is my responsibility to inform the other families as soon as we verify that a serious contagion has made its way to our group.

Sick Days

In the event that Dominique or Kaleb are sick and need to cancel, I will give you as much notice as possible. 5 sick days are included in the cost of enrollment per year, and beyond that I will open up make up days on a Monday or Friday (or possibly a “date night” early afternoon) in which your child has the option to attend. Because it is new for me to run Riversong from mine and Kaleb’s home, I am open to a conversation with families about how to navigate school days in the event that Kaleb becomes sick.
