Welcome to Riversong Nursery School,

a farm and homestead-based daycare & home school in Penn Valley for little ones ages 2+ years old.

Our Mission…

to nurture children’s intrinsic wonder for the natural world through outdoor play, farm/homestead projects and ancestral crafts
to foster reverence for world culture through music and storytelling
to create a safe place where children can thrive socially, emotionally, and physically with loving, attentive care, play and trust
to raise whole children with respect for their own and each other’s bodies, emotions and unique voices
to empower children to speak their needs and communicate with each other effectively through gently guided conflict resolution
to nourish the body with local, organic, whole foods
to support families in having time off from their precious little ones so they can live balanced lives and relax knowing their children are in loving hands

Set amidst the rolling, green, oak-spotted meadows of Penn Valley, with our sheep grazing in the background, we are a nature-based home school inspired by Waldorf, Montessori, and Wild & Free Homeschooling. Our facilities include a fenced open space for free outdoor play with a sandbox, playhouse, swing and plenty of crafting stations, in addition to our little farmhouse on 7 acres. We have friendly goats, dogs, cats, and sheep that the children will get to interact with.

Our Vision…

Riversong Nursery School is a grow-with-me program. Our vision is to grow with the same group of children for the years to come, deepening in our connection, trust and relationship over time—until children are ready for school or beyond that, perhaps growing into a homeschool collective someday for those interested.

It takes a village to raise a child. With the possibility to stay together for years, we hope to foster a true sense of community with families and be a part of that village.

We hope to keep alive children’s remembrance of their origins and the origins of everything around us that gives us life through loving care, nature play and trust in their innate wisdom.
